For some people, choosing the right gift for others just comes so naturally, but if you are like me, where you struggle in every occasion, then I know it would be hardest for you when it comes to getting gifts for friends with babies and/or children under the age of 3. You never know which milestone they are trying to hit or what they may need in their nursery!

So with that in mind, I’ve put together a gift guide from newborns until toddlers of 3 years of age, according to their interests, abilities and stuff….. they are going to LOVE your present and so will their parents!! x

They should have a lot of things prepared already when they are expecting the baby, and they must have been showered with gifts, but you can always be the friend who gets them the gift that helps them with their new parenthood-life, because let me tell you, IT’S NOT EASY. The right products gives them a good start though.

This is the Skip Hop Moby Smart Sling 3-Stage Tub we have been using since Klay was born. It’s perfect because it has a sling for when they can’t sit up yet, so less pressure for your arm when you bathe the baby. I also recommend getting this Skip Hop Moby waterfall bath rinser and Skip Hop Moby Scoop & Splash Bath Toy Organizer or getting these smaller items if they already have a bath tub ready. The rinser is amazing for getting rid of the last bubbles and they will thank you for the toy organizer when their bath toys build up!

A personalized blanket or pillow is always a good idea for newborns, since they can keep it and use it for a long time. Maybe as long as they have their little one to love ( :

At this age, most families start thinking of travelling (although for us we started travelling when Klay was 6 months old, haha) For traveling Babyzen YOYO+ Stroller
or the Pockit Lightweight Stroller or even the Maclaren Mark II with Recline Stroller, Midnight Navy which we recently got. It is definitely a dream to sleep in (good news for tired parents or parents who like to shop undisrupted), Klay falls asleep really quickly every time he gets on it.

But if you’re thinking of toys for a 1-year-old, Melissa & Doug Disney Wooden Peg Puzzles Set: Letters, Numbers, and Shapes and Colors or Personalized Wooden Peg Name Puzzle would be a gem because they are getting better at controlling their little hands, and it’s perfect when they are practicing with a purpose!

They start showing really strong preferences in what they like, for boys, it’s either dinosaurs/animals or cars. I don’t have a little girl but from years of experience in teaching, they like pretend play and dolls, or even LEGO.

To play on the safe side, I suggest getting something that is more unisex (except for its colours and designs), like a KinderfeetsClassic Chalkboard Wooden Balance Bike (this one you can even decorate with chalk!) or a LaScoota 2-in-1 Kick Scooter with Removable Seat , along with the safety accessories that they will need to wear when riding them, like theseBMX Bike Knee Pads and Elbow Pads or the whole set like Bike Helmet, Safety Bell & Protective Pad and Glove Set. Practical and fun!

Although my son and his cousins started playing with Playdoh in their early two’s, I think it’s much more rewarding for 3 year olds when they can actually follow the examples on the box and make things like it as they are more capable to.

Finger puppets like this  Triceratops would also be loved by a 3-year-old as their imagination blooms and they are enjoying role play more than ever now.

And bedtime stories has GOT to be one of their favourite times of day by now! I know it’s Klay’s favourite time of day 😛 It would be nice to get them a personalized Christmas-related book to get them into the holiday spirit, like Personalized Twas’ The Night Before Christmas .

Actually, anything personalized is good for any age, as it makes them feel extra special and it touches parents heart every time, so other than the ones I had mentioned above, here are a few more personalized gifts that won’t just be sitting on the shelf after a day:

I could’ve went on and on because there are a million great inventions for little human beings nowadays, wouldn’t you agree?
I hope this helped you get started and have some idea what they need at a certain stage!
